5 Classic Car Museums from Around the World

Museums are ideal places to visit because there’s always the chance to learn something new. For classic car enthusiasts, there are museums that cater to their tastes. The world is filled with classic car museums and here are five of the best.

Audi Museum in Germany

Audi has a long history that dates back to the 1903, with founder August Horch. You can visit the museum in Germany and see a range of Audi cars, dating from the start of the company to the modern day. There are luxury Horch cars that include V8 and V12 engines, such as the rare 855. There’s also video footage of how the company came into existence, making it an informative place to check out.

Saab Museum in Sweden

The Saab Museum is the perfect place to see an important part of classic car history. Located in Sweden, the museum houses a collection of 120 Saab cars. Saab were known for being innovative, as they introduced a turbocharged engine. However, Saab were forced to file for bankruptcy in 2011, and the museum is a monument for everything they accomplished.

Cité de l'Automobile in France

The Cité de l'Automobile can be found in Mulhouse and features the largest collection of displayed cars in the world, with 520 cars from 98 brands. It’s also the home of the largest Bugatti collection. The museum is split into three areas: the motor racing area, motor car masterpieces area and Bugatti Veyron area. The first section houses racing cars, the second is filled with 1930s vehicles and the third is devoted to a Bugatti Veyron.

Mullin Museum in California

Founded by Peter W. Mullin, this museum specialises in French cars from the Art Deco period. Despite it being smaller than other museums, the cars on display are impressive. There is a collection of vintage Bugattis and many other beautiful vehicles to see. Located in Oxnard, the museum is housed in a building that has solar panels and Art Deco motifs to match the era of the cars.

Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum in Indiana

The Duesenberg Automobile Museum, located in Auburn, is dedicated to preserving cars built by Auburn Automobile and Duesenberg. The building itself is an artifact because it served as the international headquarters of the Auburn Automobile Company from 1930 - 1936.  The collection features 125 cars, with stand out models including a 1930s Packard, Rolls-Royce Phantom and Cadillac V-16.
