A 'Minor' detour for an extraordinary cause

Three iconic classics. Three charities. One epic adventure.

Next year, Carl Beasley and Peter Bevington will be driving from Lands End to John O Groats in a bid to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis, Cancer Research and Macmillan Cancer Support.

Impressive stuff, you might say – but just wait until you hear what they'll be completing the epic journey in.

As opposed to tackling the route on foot, bicycle or modern motor, Peter and Carl will be driving all 847 miles in a fully restored Morris Minor – a feat that's been generating some serious heat throughout the motoring world, as well as here at Carole Nash HQ.

Having posted a video with none other than Wheeler Dealers' very own Mike Brewer on their Facebook page, the boys have also been seen rubbing shoulders with Carole Nash’s favourite petrol head, Fuzz Townshend, at one of our very own events.

Having won tickets to this year's Restoration Show, we couldn't wait to hear more about Pete and Carl's epic adventure and what it was that inspired them to do it.

"Both Peter and myself have had cancer", explained Carl, "and Peter's daughter also has cystic fibrosis – so as you can imagine, all three charities hold a special place in our hearts."

Having come up with the idea to run one Morris Minor from Land's End to John O'Groats earlier this year, it didn't take long for the team to set up a fundraising page in order to raise money for their selected charities. Since then however, the team has grown from one humble Morris to a troop of three – with each one aiming to complete the journey on behalf of one of Peter and Carl's selected charities.

The pair have also been working around the clock to raise as much money as possible elsewhere – meaning that if they're not in the garage tinkering on their motors, they can often be found organising all sorts of fun, money-raising events.

"We are planning a Christmas raffle" explains Carl, "with all proceeds going to each of our selected charities. We would like it to be lots of fun, and we would be truly grateful if everyone could make a donation to the raffle, or make a donation via our Virgin Money Giving page by clicking here."

Don't forget you can also keep up to date with Carl and Pete's progress by joining their Facebook Group – perfect for anyone looking to get to know the guys, and their journey, in a little more detail.
