Silverstone Classic to Celebrate Maserati's 100th Birthday
This year, Silverstone Classic will be hosting a variety of events in celebration of Maserati's 100th birthday, Classic and Sports Car has reported.
The luxury car manufacturer was founded by Alfieri Maserati in 1914 and soon gained a reputation on roads and racetracks around the world. Maserati triumphed in the early Targa Florio races, followed by endless racing victories at tracks such as the Nurburgring and Sebring in the 1950s. Juan Manuel Fangio, considered by some as one of the world's greatest drivers, won two F1 Championship titles driving a Maserati.
Silverstone has officially declared Maserati as this year's "Celebration Marque." The manufacturer's 100-year history will be celebrated at the event in many ways, including displays, parades and races that have been organised in partnership with Maserati Club UK and Maserati GB. A large procession will also be held at the event in honour of Maserati, which will showcase the company's most iconic models.
Peter Denton, head of sales at Maserati GB, commented that 2014 is a significant year for the Maserati brand, and it will be great to revisit the company's history and achievements over the last 100 years.
Denton said that the Silverstone Classic is a perfect event to showcase a variety of Maserati models, offering enthusiasts the opportunity to see the company's history in action. It will also be a great chance to educate new drivers about the models that have and will continue to define the Maserati brand.
