What Kind Of Motorhome Can I buy?

With the summer in full swing, it’s the ideal time to buy a motorhome and go off on an adventure. There are many to choose from, ranging from massive Class A motorhomes, to smaller campervans. So, how do you go about picking the right one for you? We’ve put together a guide on the different types of motorhomes and what to expect for each one.

Class A

Class A vehicles are the largest, most expensive type of motorhome. Class A motorhomes offer their owners plenty of space and interior features. Some are equipped with slide-out sections that expand into the living area, while a separate master bedroom suite is common. Other regular features include a laundry machine, bath and shower facilities.

When buying a motorhome, it’s important to think about price and Class As are the most expensive. They also cost a lot to repair and the insurance is the highest of all motorhome types. Due to their size, it can be difficult to navigate certain roads as well. Class A models are most suited to longer trips because you’ll be able to make the most of all the various features.

Class B

Campervans fall into the Class B category, and they include other small vehicles that can barely be considered motorhomes. A campervan’s small size makes it easy to drive. Although they are expensive, campervans are more economical to operate than Class As. They come with all basic amenities and can accommodate one or two travelers.

The downside to Class Bs is they have limited space compared to Class A models. This also applies to storage space, so you’ll only have enough room to pack the essentials. Class B motorhomes are best used for a short/weekend trip.

Class C

Class C motorhomes are usually medium-sized and are built on top of existing van chassis. They are ideal vehicles for families or large groups who want to travel in a motorhome on a budget.

Class Cs offer more living space than Class Bs and have many of the same amenities as Class As. They feature toilet, shower and kitchen facilities, while larger models may have a master bedroom suite at the rear. In some models, couches and tables convert into beds and the overhead compartment can be used for extra storage.

A Class C motorhome can be as challenging to drive as a Class A, but they are usually easier to manage in restricted camp sites. Overall, Class Cs are cheaper when you take into consideration the cost of fuel, maintenance and insurance. However, compared to Class Bs, they are more expensive.

Whatever motorhome you decide to buy, it’s a good investment. It all depends on the kind of driving experience you want and how long you’ll be on the road for.
